Influenster Beauty Bloggers Voxbox 2012

Profile: INFLUENSTER
Background Information: On their website they describe an Influenster as
Basically, Influenster is a place for culture junkies to come together and share their unique opinions of products and experiences. Active members of Influenster get exclusive access to deals, promotions, and swag from brands that thrive off the input (the good, the bad, and the ugly -- they just want to know what's up).
With that every box is free of cost including shipping! All you have to do is sign up, fill out your profile, start earning badges and wait till their next feature is ready. Their site motto is "Turn your social influence into rewards" and that pretty much sums it up! You get to try exclusive products free for your input.

Today I received my very first Influenster box! The Beauty Bloggers Voxbox for 2012. I'm very excited to use and review these products. I will demonstrate the products below if they have a visual aspect to them, if they don't I will try my best to describe them.

I was impressed by the NYC Limited Edition so much that I went to my local store and purchased another palette in Union Square (pictured left). Both NYC palette's are pigmented and last throughout the day. I would recommend this brand.

I was excited to receive the Kiss Eyelashes Starter Kit because I don't wear eyelashes at all and I wanted to test them out! I was a little impressed by these eyelashes because they are so full and look amazing! The sad part is that I can't wear fake eyelashes because I need to wear my glasses so the two clash with the eyelashes being super long.

The Bath & Body Works candle in Mahogany Teakwood smells amazing! I'm definitely considering purchasing this. At first I was skeptical because I don't usually go for scents like this but this just smells amazing, very men's perfume-y. The throw on this candle was noticeable in a subtle way, but most mini candles don't have the same throw compared to 3-wicks.

The Vitabath in Lavender Chamomile smells amazing. On the downside this is a fragrance mist, so it only gives you that instant burst of fragrance - nothing long lasting.

The Goody Simple Styles Spin Pin was OK. I actually really like it because it's so easy to use. To use the Spin Pin all you do is gather your hair in a bun then start twisting the pin into your hair to hold the bun. To take out you just spin counter-clockwise.

I'll review the EBoost and Not Your Mother's Kinky Curl soon!

Overall
The Beauty Bloggers Voxbox was a huge success! I enjoyed trying new things. I would say that most of the items were unfamiliar to me, or I never used them, before I was sent this box. I really enjoyed the candle and NYC palette! As stated in this blog I already went out and purchased the NYC palette after testing out the eye shadow quad I received. I would check out the Kiss Eyelashes for special occasions. I didn't care too much for the Eboost sample. The Vitabath and Kinky Moves was OK but nothing to run and tell home about.

Maybelline Dreamy Bouncy Blush & Baby Lips!

I had my eye on Maybelline's Dreamy Bouncy Blush for awhile but was a little skeptical to try it. I heard some nice reviews and some not so nice reviews on their Bouncy Blush. I decided to give it a try and find out for myself. While I was looking at the blush I came across Baby Lips and decided to try that too. When I got home I ripped open the packaging then tried them on!

Pink Punch & Pink Frosting
Cherry Me & Plum Wine

Pink Frosting
Plum Wine
Baby Lips: Very moisturizing and tinted! I highly recommend it! The color is long-lasting and the formula is moisturizing.

Dream Bouncy Blush: The consistency is like play-doh. The coverage is build-able and it looks amazing! This blush is creamy and has a long-lasting finish. I applied this on with my fingers to build up coverage. From early in the morning till late at night when I took my makeup off the blush was still going strong. Lasts all day plus it's noticeable!

Birchbox October 2012

This month Birchbox had a choice of two themes to choose from- Goop and the regular Birchbox. I opted out of the Goop special edition box because I instantly think of sunscreen and I do not need that. Birchbox October's theme is Transformation, an appropriate theme considering Halloween is all about that! Nonetheless the items I received in my box weren't funky eyelashes or crazy, bold makeup, just regular skin care and health products that transforms your body on a daily basis.

This month's theme is Transformation

  • Harvey Prince Eau Flirt
  • Mox Botanical Pomegranate & Fig Lip Butter
  • Supergoop! City Sunscreen Serum
  • theBalm cosmetics Mary-Lou Manizer
  • LUNA Protein Chocolate Peanut Butter
My box this month was OK. I'm not too excited as I thought I would be. I do wish that they would've included something that was an obvious transformation overnight (Halloween). I don't mind the products I got besides the sunscreen and protein bar. Everything else was OK, although I do love the Harvey Prince scent!

Birchbox rating: C+

Book Lovers Cravebox October 2012

Cravebox decided to do something for book lovers! I was on it when I read that this box would include a good book and extra treats.
Included was
  • How I Came to Sparkle Again by Kaya McLaren
Set in a Colorado ski town, Kaya McLaren's How I Came To Sparkle Again is a remarkable breakout novel that chronicles three people and their journey from loss to love; heartbreak to hope -GoodReads
  • Natural Vines Strawberry Licorice
  • Crum Creek Soy Nut Mix
  • The Gratitude Bracelet
The bracelet also came with a coupon for 10% off using CRAVEBOX10- Alexa's Angels

The hits are obviously the book and the licorice! Natural Vines Strawberry Licorice is so delicious! It's chewy and packed with flavor! I highly recommend these snacks! I didn't think I would like them as much as I do now. You can search for these at your local health store or buy them online at Amazon.

The misses were the Soy Nut Mix by Crum Creek, it's just not my cup of tea. The bracelet is OK but it's not a favorite of mines.

Overall I wish this box included a book light or some hot cocoa. I must say for a box that was seemingly thrown together last minute it did not fail to impress me. As always I enjoy doing business with Cravebox!

Julep It Girl October 2012

It's officially October the month for haunted houses, caramel apples, candy corn, and also breast cancer awareness! The theme for this month is Halloween, of course, and I absolutely love this month's box! I switched to It Girl because I loved the polishes but I also got three add-on's. The whole look and design for this box will definitely put you in a spooktacular mood! The product for this month was the Quick Dry Nail Polish Drops but I opted out of that because crackle polishes dry fast. My only issue with this box is which color/combination I want to work with first! I must say that Julep never stops to impress me month by month and with a three month Holiday streak I know that are going go bring it! Swatches are coming soon which will be added to this post all before the end of October so check back to see my October nail looks!

The packaging was amazing orange grass paper and a black bag with a clear glittery tie. I just love the design of October's box!

It Girl came with Glenda, Caroline, and Leslie.

2 solid colors: dark vampire red, shimmery black
1 crackle: silver

(Left to Right) Hermione (white crackle), Sabrina (orange crackle), Sofia (glow-in-the-dark shimmery green)

Also included was candy corn and two glitter pots- orange and black. This can be used for nails, just apply to polish while still wet then apply a top coat.
